Tallapoosa County is located in Alabama and Dadeville is the county seat. Tallapoosa County was formed in 1832, and is located in the central-eastern part of the state. There are several cities and towns which fall within Tallapoosa County, including Alexander City, Camp Hill, Dadeville, Daviston, Equality, Goldville, Jackson's Gap, New Site, Tallassee, and Reeltown.

Lake Martin is located in Tallapoosa, Elmore and Coosa Counties. Lake Martin is a manmade lake that was formed once Martin Dam was completed along the Tallapoosa River. Martin Dam is owned, operated and regulated by Alabama Power and supplies hydroelectric power. Alexander City, located in Tallapoosa County, sits on the shoreline of one of the largest man-made lakes in the world, as it has over 700 miles of shoreline and encompasses 39,180 acres. Because of Lake Martin's clear waters, it is very popular with water enthusiasts. There are marines, boat slips and water access areas all along the shores of Lake Martin, making it ideal for those who want to enjoy a day on the water. Several cities in Tallapoosa County have benefited from the continued tourism resulting from Lake Martin.
Tallassee, which is located in Tallapoosa County, was home to the historic Hotel Talisi. The hotel originally opened in 1928, and in recent years had been a restaurant that offered a buffet of home cooked foods, which varied daily. The rooms in the hotel were staged to reflect the time period during which it was built and operated as a true hotel. In 2009, the historic hotel was destroyed when a fire spread quickly. The hotel was a prominent fixture in the community and played host to numerous weddings, receptions and other events over several decades. In additional to the Hotel Talisi, Tallassee is home to several other historic buildings and homes. The Roxy Theaters, located in downtown Tallassee, was a hot spot during the 1920's. Visitors can also enjoy seeing the Patterson Log Cabin, which is the oldest home structure in Tallassee. It was built around 1845 and is still available for tourists and guests to visit.
